The Artwork of Bob Witzack & Jack Zellner
Raven’s Wish Gallery is pleased to announce a shared exhibition of artwork by Bob Witzack and the late Jack Zeller celebrating the human spirit.
An artist reception for Bob Witzack and Jack Zellner’s exhibition, “Art of the Human Spirit” will be held Saturday November 6th from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm . The show and reception are FREE and open to the public, and the exhibition will hang through November 24th.
Creations by both artists, in 3D sculptures and in acrylic painting, convey qualities of numinosity, appealing to the higher emotions or to the aesthetic sense. A life-long search for expression and understanding are keynotes of this combined show.
Witzack’s work began several years ago when he began repurposing interesting old Victorian clocks, including wooden cases, dials, and parts. Found objects and painted backgrounds adorn several of the “spirit boxes” or mini shrines. Each box has a theme and a connection to spirituality or veneration of the sacred. In the same vein, Zellner’s paintings glow with light, life, and movement. His passion for sharing art, creating beauty on canvas, and his joy of teaching will live on through his artwork.
Exhibition by Karen Limke
Raven’s Wish Gallery is pleased to announce an art exhibition by Karen Limke of Janesville. “Celebrating Seasons” is a collection of paintings capturing the color, shape, and movement of the moments of wonder in each season. From the maze of winter branches, the bursting blossoms of spring, summertime flower gardens, and fall’s harvests, each painting reflects the artist’s reverence for nature’s wonders throughout each seasonal transition. Limke states, “I love color and enjoy experimenting with mixed media. These paintings were created mainly throughout this past Pandemic Year in order to stay connected to and enjoy what is important and beautiful.”

An artist reception for Karen Limke’s exhibition will be held Friday, May 28th from 4 pm to 7 pm at Raven’s Wish Gallery, 101 W. Milwaukee Street in Janesville, WI. The show and reception are FREE and open to the public, and the exhibition will hang through June 23rd.
Exhibition by "Studio Squad"
Raven’s Wish Gallery is pleased to announce a group art exhibition by The Studio Squad. Sharing common areas and adjoining studio space on Milton Avenue, the "Studio Squad" brings a diverse range of artwork to their four-person show in September. Rita Carpenter, Barbara Leonard, Nancy McKinnon, and Chris Stried have been friends for years, and one will find tons of dynamism and vision in their work. Raven’s Wish Gallery is pleased to announce a solo art exhibition by Cindy Anderson of Janesville. “A Learning Experience” is a bold, colorful collection of fiber art featuring improvisational piecing, fabric collage, and hand stitchery. Anderson states, “Art is a form of communication. If my expressions of art engage your mind and peak your interest, then my efforts, as a protagonist for joy through art, will be achieved. Over the years I have had the privilege of learning a variety of fiber art techniques by participating in classes taught by well—known artists such as Rayna Gilman, Lisa Binkley, and Sue Benner. Their concepts of improvisational piecing, fabric collage, hand stitchery and use of color have helped to shape my career. This exhibit is a sampling of some of the techniques I have experienced. Included in the exhibit are the following categories : Free-Form Piecing, Eco Dyed Fabrics, Hand Stitchery e Fabric Collage.”
The exhibition is free and open to the public. Anderson’s artist reception will be virtual. The exhibition will debut online (website and social media) at 6 pm on July 31st. Exhibition by Robert Witzack
Raven’s Wish Gallery is pleased to announce a solo art exhibition by Robert Witzack of Orfordville. “Life Stages Reflected in the Tarot: An Introspective Journey” is a collection of images inspired by themes found in historic tarot card decks. Using a wide array of artists’ colored pencils, Witzack explores the natural connection between the unconscious and the source of ideas and creativity. He states, “As, an artist, I’ve become fascinated with astrology and the tarot due to the wealth of visual material with which to create personal narratives from the unseen world within one’s own psyche.”

Exhibition by Pat Sparling
Raven’s Wish Gallery is pleased to announce a solo photography exhibition by Pat Sparling of Orfordville, WI. “Do You See What I See?” is a collection of dynamic photographic images from abandoned spaces in downtown to wide open rural landscapes of Rock County. Each is a thought-provoking, careful study in composition and color theory.
Sparling grew up in Chicago loving street photography and the wonderful cityscape of his youth. Now living on a farm in rural Orfordville, he is inspired by the beautiful rural landscapes that surround him. Sparling states, “I use my love of Chicago street photography and combine it with charming rural surroundings to create my images.” Sparling has been a photographer for more than 40 years, spending 25 years as a studio artist using large format cameras.

Raven’s Wish Gallery is pleased to announce a solo art exhibition by Heather Hansen of Janesville. “Inspired by Nature” is a collection of wheel-thrown and hand-built clay works focused on elements from the natural world including leaves, flowers, and animals. Widely known for her intriguing entries for the Art in the Garden Series at Rotary Botanical Gardens, Heather’s artwork evokes a sense of wonder and joy, with some whimsy tossed in for good measure. She states, “The most challenging piece in the show is the Lotus Flower Frog, with 72 handmade petals each attached individually. Immensely time-consuming, it is probably the most symbolic of my struggles in bringing the exhibition to fruition.” Functional and practical items such as platters, bowls, mugs, and garden art will also be highlighted.

Raven’s Wish Gallery is pleased to announce a solo art exhibition by Sophia Voelker of Madison. “Wild Treasures,” a collection of vibrant acrylic paintings, invites you into the wild world of nature. Voelker’s subject matter choices will take one on a visit to forest, desert, ocean, and jungle environments. Having lived in varied places including California, Oregon, Nevada, St. Croix and St. Thomas, and now Madison, WI, Voelker’s work is greatly influenced by nature.
Voelker states, “I was inspired to teach myself to paint after I saw my grandmother’s sketches, learned of my Uncle Mark Sabino’s art career, and heard of a family member’s involvement in the design of the St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands flag.”

Exhibition by Angela Morgan and Okari Blackpaw
Raven’s Wish Gallery is pleased to announce a shared art exhibition by artists Angela Morgan and Okari Blackpaw, both of Janesville.
“iArt” is a body of prints from digital paintings drawn “freehand” on an iPad or computer. Blackpaw and Morgan each compose the initial idea for a painting in their mind and use tools in computer drawing programs to give form, color, line and depth to the subjects.
Morgan states, “it allows me the freedom to experiment without wasting a lot of materials if something doesn’t work, and it doesn’t leave me with a mess either.”

Raufman’s bold style, employing large blocks of color, is particularly appropriate for depicting landscapes. As an artist, Raufman began in midlife devoting time each day and dedicated space in her home in which to concentrate, study, and learn her craft.
Raufman states, “Almost any subject can work for a painting. The kitchen sink is as important as a bouquet of flowers.”

Raven’s Wish Gallery is pleased to announce an art exhibition by local photographer Den Adler of Janesville.
“A Matter of Seeing” is a large body of images from Adler’s extensive portfolio. Known generally for his transportation shots, especially trains, Adler’s current show is wide-ranging including iconic Wisconsin images, gardens, architectural abstracts, travel, and yes, a couple of trains.
Adler states “I seek interesting shapes with attractive colors, great composition, and a nice balance in the details. If I have a dominant theme: it’s people and things standing alone in some way.”

Exhibition by Dava Dahlgran and Gail Pratt
Raven’s Wish Gallery is pleased to announce a shared art exhibition by Dava Dahlgran (colored pencil) and Gail Pratt (manipulated photography) both of Janesville.
An artist for more than 50 years, Dahlgran’s chosen medium is colored pencil which she uses to create life-like images and to tell stories. She is a signature member of the Colored Pencil Society of America, having earned status in both pure pencil and mixed media. Pratt is a William’s Bay native whose poignant, manipulated photographs have a haunting, painterly quality.
The exhibition is a year-long culmination of images depicting hats and shoes, and the stories told behind the scenes. Dahlgran states, “Personal items, such as hats and shoes, tell intimate, but universal stories. Everyone seems to relate to them.”
An artist reception will be held from 4 pm to 7 pm on November 30th at Raven’s Wish Gallery, 101 W. Milwaukee Street in Janesville. The exhibition is free and will hang through January 5th. Gallery hours are from 10 am to 6 pm Monday through Friday and 10 am to 3 pm on Saturday.

Raven’s Wish Gallery is pleased to announce a solo art exhibition by Lynette Redner of Delavan, Wisconsin. “Life Scape,” is a collection of artwork (watercolor, oil, and acrylic) inspired by nature, and includes both landscapes and animals. Her most recent paintings have been described as “fresh, colorful, joyful, and humorous.”
Born and raised in Wisconsin, Redner actively exhibits in various shows in the area, as well as juried exhibitions in Florida and Arizona. Redner is a member of the Janesville Art League, Whitewater Art Alliance, the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, and the Beloit Plein Air Painters.

Raven’s Wish Gallery is pleased to announce a solo art exhibition by Brian Hartmann of Beloit. “Reminiscing,” a collection of detailed watercolors, invites you indulge in the enjoyable recollection of past events. Brian’s subject matter choices will remind you of a particular time in your life, typically one that has made an impression, and helped shape who you are as a person.
In discussing his work, Hartmann states, “I’m not always drawn to the most complex compositions, but I do love the challenges they present. Taking a unique perspective makes for a more compelling composition.” Hartmann is a member of the Janesville Art League, the Wisconsin Regional Art Association, and the Wisconsin and Illinois Watercolor Societies.

Exhibition by Susan Beck and Alicia Reid
Raven’s Wish Gallery is pleased to announce a shared art exhibition by Susan Beck (Beloit) and Alicia Reid (Janesville).
“Gone to the Dogs”, A Celebration of our Canine Companions, is a body of work including collage, watercolor, and assemblage celebrating relationships with our canine companions.
Proceeds from artwork sales will benefit animal rescue organizations including Friends of Noah, Humane Society of Southern Wisconsin, and Rocky Ridge Refuge.
Artist Susan Beck states “to be able to use ‘my powers for good’ in art donations and fundraisers for animal rescue is an obvious choice for me.”
Both artists live and work with a variety of creatures in their lives. Reid has two rescue dogs that typically share her day at the gallery. Beck, throughout her life, has rarely been without a dog (or two) at her side.
An artist reception for the exhibition “Gone to the Dogs” will be held Friday, July 27th from 6 pm to 8 pm at Raven’s Wish Gallery, 101 W. Milwaukee Street in Janesville, WI.

Raven’s Wish Gallery is pleased to announce a solo art exhibition, If Wishes Were Horses, by Jessie Willyerd of Janesville. Jessie is best known for her colorful acrylic paintings and pastel drawings that merge together abstract elements and realistic equine forms. She believes that the horse is a powerful symbol representing the capacity we all hold for change and growth through the freedom to discover and be who we truly are.
In her exploration of color and form, Willyerd states, “I love to look into the shadows and find colors and value changes that are easily overlooked if one only focuses on the light. By bringing beauty to the shadows that describe the form I hope to bring awareness to the idea that both light and dark are equal components in creating the whole.”

Art Exhibition by Pam Veitenheimer
Raven’s Wish Gallery is pleased to announce a solo art exhibition "Passageways" by Pam Veitenheimer of Milton.
Using primarily acrylic paint, Pam creates vibrant, dynamic works in two distinct styles. Her representational work (flowers, wildlife, etc.) is very graphic in style with rich color densities, appearing to ebb and flow as if in motion.
Pam's textural abstracts are imprinted in a compound, dried, and covered with several thin glazes of paint creating depth and interest.
The artist states, “I create the textural work on old unwanted plaques from Goodwill and local consignment shops, enjoying the fact that I am giving something unwanted and unused a new purpose.”

Raven’s Wish Gallery is pleased to announce a shared art exhibition by Jennye Byrns of Janesville and Richard Peterson III of Beaver Dam. "Unbreakable Squared" will feature work including individual pieces by each artist along with several collaborative works.
Jennye Byrns is a mixed media assemblage artist with interests in everyday objects (staplers, paintbrushes, doll parts, etc.) given strange new life.
Richard Peterson III specializes in both decorative and functional steel sculpture.

Fiber Art by Kristine Moser
The featured artist for October at Raven’s Wish Gallery is fiber artist Kristine Moser of Janesville. Using fabric, ribbon, and an amazing array of eclectic beads and buttons, Moser has created a sublime tribute to autumn entitled “A Walk in the Woods.” Leaves, trees, and creatures you’d expect to see on a forest walk are featured in her colorful tapestries.

Acrylics by Karolyn Alexander
Raven’s Wish Gallery is pleased to announce a solo art exhibition by Karolyn Alexander of Whitewater. Using acrylic paint and a variety of tools including pencils, paint pens, water-soluble crayons, credit cards, palette knives, kitchen utensils, sticks and skewers, fingers and brushes of every shape and size, Alexander’s work begins intuitively by making marks or laying down patterns of paint that are then altered or painted over to some degree. The artist states, “I always paint with music playing in my studio and a favorite strategy is to use my non-dominate hand to create marks and brushstrokes.”
An artist reception will be held from 6 pm to 8 pm on Friday, September 8th at Raven’s Wish Gallery, 101 W. Milwaukee Street in Janesville.

Raven’s Wish Gallery is pleased to announce an art exhibition by local artist Robert Witzack of Orfordville. “New Works” is a body of work completed in the last three years. Included in the show are a series of small oil paintings envisioned as devotional works for meditation and the spiritual, both Western and Eastern traditions. Also displayed are additional pieces in colored pencil and a painting of Southside Brewery No. 2, created for a local brewery researcher.
Witzack began painting in the mid-1960s (B.S in Fine Art, UW Madison). Most of his work is representational oil and his subject matter includes portraits, still life, and landscapes. His interests range from music, auto mechanics and motorsports, to trains and vintage timepieces. After a career as a railroad and engineer service employee, Witzack currently works part-time at a downtown jeweler’s shop repairing clocks and watches.
Witzack’s exhibition will be at Raven’s Wish Gallery, 101 West Milwaukee Street in Janesville, through August 23rd. Acrylic Abstract Landscapes by Jack Zellner
At Raven’s Wish Gallery, the featured artist for July is Jack Zellner. One can see the influence of growing up in Wisconsin in many of Jack’s paintings which depict the rich imagery of farmland, woods, inland lakes, and the bays and shorelines of Lake Michigan. His approach to painting landscapes is different from many traditional landscape artists. His work does not define a specific place, but emphasizes mood, light, warmth, and relaxation. “The landscape should transport the viewer into a familiar place, but with curiosity of time, temperature, season, texture, pattern, and wonderful color,” Jack explains. The exhibition “Filtered Light” will hang at Raven’s Wish Gallery, 101 West Milwaukee Street in Janesville, through July 26th.

Raven’s Wish Gallery is pleased to announce a shared art exhibition by Jennye Byrns of Janesville and Richard Peterson III of Beaver Dam. "Unbreakable Squared" will feature work including individual pieces by each artist along with several collaborative works.
Jennye Byrns is a mixed media assemblage artist with interests in everyday objects (staplers, paintbrushes, doll parts, etc.) given strange new life.
Richard Peterson III specializes in both decorative and functional steel sculpture.
An artist reception will be held from 6 pm to 8 pm on Friday, March 31st at Raven’s Wish Gallery, 101 W. Milwaukee Street in Janesville. The exhibition will hang through April 26th and the gallery is open from 10 am to 6 pm Monday through Friday and 10 am to 3 pm on Saturday.
"Gloppy" Book Signing by Author Pat Hall
We are hosting a book signing by author Pat Hall featuring her book,"Gloppy," on Friday, March 17th from 5 pm to 7 pm. "Gloppy" is illustrated by Pat's daughter Emmeline Hall Forrestal. Hall and Forrestal are also the author and illustrator of "Ida May's Borrowed Trouble" and "Beasties".
When fourth grader Mitch's bowl of cafeteria chili comes to life, his friend Andy convinces him to sneak it home. Mitch gets a crash course in responsibility as he learns to care for his unusual pet. What does it eat? What do you do when it poops? Where will it sleep? As Gloppy grows and matures, Mitch grows some insight into fatherhood and his own absent dad.

What Color is Christmas? is a collection of art dedicated to exploring the essence of Christmas through color. Moser’s creations include ornaments, wreaths, tapestries, and scarves. An artist reception will be held from 5 pm to 7 pm on December 1st at Raven’s Wish Gallery, 101 W. Milwaukee Street in Janesville. The exhibition will hang through January 3rd and the gallery is open from 10 am to 6 pm Monday through Friday and 10 am to 3 pm on Saturday.
